Modified BT NTE5 Master ADSL Adaptor
This is the
GENUINE BT unit
as fitted by BT line engineers carrying out full ADSL installations, and as referred to in BT's
SIN 346 documentation
, but with a handy little improvement...
We've had the original design's 3-way IDC hardwire points replaced at the factory with a 6-way IDC connector block to allow hardwiring of dedicated ADSL extension cable(s) as well as your voice extensions.
There's a dedicated description page about the nature of the modification
HERE
which you really should read.
Replaces the front plate of an
NTE5-type BT Master Socket
with a centralised filter/splitter unit to separate voice and ADSL services. All voice extensions become filtered at the source in one go, negating the need for separate microfilters at each telephone socket.
This enhanced version allows for neater/hidden hardwiring of ADSL capable extensions and of course better facilitates clever bespoke dual-purpose cabling options etc, if you know what you're doing.
ON THE FRONT
;
ADSL socket
- RJ45/RJ11 socket, unfiltered, connect your ADSL modem or a BT ADSL extension cable.
BT Telephone socket
- filtered, for connection of any normal telephony equipment
ON THE BACK
Filtered IDC terminals
for hardwiring of existing/new extensions for normal telephony use (which includes SKY boxes and alarm panels with modems don't forget!)
PLUS: UNFILTERED IDC terminals for hardwiring of ADSL-capable extensions
NOTES
1. SEE
KRONE INSERTOR TOOLS
IF YOU'LL BE HARDWIRING CABLES TO THE REAR EXTENSION TERMINALS!
2:
If you're not clear on the exact nature of this ADSL filtering device, or if you don't even know what an NTE5 master socket is, you'd best read
this article
which should make everything clear and easy. This is a professional installation product, and although it's easy to fit and use, PLEASE take the time to read up on it if you aren't familiar with it yet.
3: SCREWS
BT packs extended self-tapping screws with this, as used with their more recent unthreaded NTE5 bodies. But if your NTE5 master socket is an older one or isn't a BT fitted one, it may have machine screw threads for the front faceplate. So see the section "A Note About The Screws" in
this article
for detailed info. If you do need machine screws, you'll find them
on this page.
Doesn't interfere with Caller ID
unlike certain cheap filters I could mention *cough*...
Happily services all DSL speeds; ADSL, ADSL "Max" (8Mb), ADSL2+ (24Mb)
And to ice your cake nicely, we're now running this neat
