This is the cable connecting a modem or router to the telephone line. ADSL applications usually call for an RJ11-RJ11 type, suitably for plugging in to a microfilter, filtered wallbox, or ADSL adaptor on the BT Master box.
There's also an RJ11-BT variant which is typically used for dialup modems, or to allow connection of any modem directly into the test socket inside a BT Master box, for example.
