NED'S CONFIRMED FOR BEATIFUL DAYS FESTIVAL
First gig for 2010 has been announced, the band will be taking to the stage as part of the line up for the Beatiful Days Festival, which takes place at Escort Park in Devon, over the 20th, 21st and 22nd of August. No word yet on which of those days they'll actually be playing though, shall post an update when it is :)

RE: UNITED LIVE CD/DVD NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER!
Yes, the limited edition live cd/dvd set of the wolverhampton gig is now available for pre-order, and will be released on the 23rd of November. Apparently it will be limited to one factory pressing only, so if you want one you best get in there! It contains the whole gig on both cd + dvd format, along with soundcheck footage and an interview with all original members. Those pre-ordering in october will also have the chance to get their name printed on the inner artwork. Head here to place your order and check out the artwork and tracklist - you can also use the discount code NYQ003 to get 15% off (basically the price of the postage) :)

EMAIL WOES
Just a small note to say i have just discovered the email address i've always used for this site is no longer working - orange decided to delete the account without me realising (long story). I in fact have no idea How Long this has been the case, or how long before it was actually deleted i stopped recieving emails, but it was potentially several months. So on the off chance anyone has tried to email me and did not recieve a reply (or it got bounced back) i do apologise. I now have a new address, so feel free to email me again if the latter was the case. On a Ned's Note, the DVD/CD set looks to be due very soon, so watch this space...

WOLVES GIG FILMED FOR DVD!
I'm sure those present at the (rather enjoyable) Wolverhampton gig won't have failed to spot the cameras dotted around capturing the action. Word has it that it will be made available as a limited edition cd/dvd set, hopefully in the near future - nothing official has been announced yet, but i'll post an update when More Information becomes available :)

8 March 2009

NEW DATE! O2 SHEPARDS BUSH EMPIRE - 19TH DECEMBER!
The band have just announced a special 'God Fodder' celebration gig, at which they will play the entire album from start to finish (plus some other Favourites). Apparently, this will be the only other 'club' gig this year (so much for my hopes of a scottish show!), although that does suggest they'll be putting in a few festival appearances. Tickets are on sale from 9am friday 13th march - again some special VIP tickets are available from monday that will get you a limited signed poster plus access to the after show party. A 'classic design' is apparently going to make a return to the merch stand too..

LUNATIC MAGNETS DVD RELEASE
Just a little update to say Lunatic Magnets will be getting a DVD release (region 0) on February 23rd,and can currently be pre-ordered from both Play and Amazon (and no doubt a few other retailers) priced around £6. It appears to be a straight transfer - ie no additional content, which is a shame, but still. No mention of Nothing is Cool following suite, but you never know (can't help think there's a bit of a missed opportunity there though - having both packaged in a single dvd with some extras such as the left out music videos could have been a nice little treat!)

RE: UNITED - FIRST 2009 SHOW ANNOUNCED!
Following the success of the December gig (i personally had a fantastic time! :) ), the original line up will be returning once again for a 'spiritual homecoming' , at the Wolverhampton Wulfren Hall, on Saturday the 23rd of May. Tickets go on sale from February 2nd (though there will be a few sneaky V.I.P tickets available to buy on Jan 23rd - limited to 200!)

28 May 2008

RE: UNITED - ORIGINAL LINE UP RETURNS!
Firstly yet another apology for not keeping things up to date on here, Life is an awful nuscience sometimes, although i have continued to add the odd scan etc to the discography when i could. But enough about that, and onto the big news! It probably hasn't escaped your attention, but a couple of weeks ago it was announced that the original line up, (ie, Jonn, Alex, Dan, Mat and Rat) are getting back together, and will be playing together for the first time in 13 years at the London Astoria, December 6th! :-)
Apparently, after Sony invited them to choose the track list for the 'Furtive Years' compilation last year, it got everyone talking (or at least writing) again, and it was decided that if they were talking, why weren't they playing? Following an invitation from the Astoria, they decided to make it a date. As to what this will lead to in the future, whether they will continue with new material ideas, further dates etc, is still unclear, but hopefully it means Good Things. Obviously, i'm sure everyone will agree that Martin and Andy will be sorely missed, and have done an excellent job over the last 8(!) years - apparently they aren't too upset though and do wish the band well in their absence, as i'm sure everyone wishes them the best with their own band, NowAssassin
Tickets are currently on sale for the gig (see the official site), and a special 'secret design' tshirt is also being produced to celebrate this 21st anniversary (you can order one with or without your ticket).

11 June 2007

20th CHRISTMAS BASH!
It appears the Ned's will be reviving the Wolves Civic Christmas Show Tradition again this year, marking their 20th anniversary of sorts. Look here for a bit more info, and here to book tickets :-)

NED'S ATOMIC DUSTBIN... DON'T EXIST - PRE-ORDER NOW!
The new DVD is now available to pre-order from www.twelve42.com! It will be released on the 14th June, and pre-ordering will guarantee arrival on the day of release in the UK. There will be a slight delay (couple of days) for the USA/Canada release, due to NTSC format conversion. The film is 56 minutes long with special features which run to 28 minutes. It includes brand new interviews, backstage footage as well as live tracks. You can also view a new trailer for it on the aforementioned link, as well as at surgemusic.com :-)

1 May 2007

NEW DVD TRAILER
Just a quick one to say head here to check out a trailer for the forthcoming dvd :-)
Also as a small note for those who don't know, there's currently a lot of ned's vids - including all the music videos plus some live stuff - available to watch on youtube. Just do a search on the band and you'll find plenty of goodies :-)

17 April 2007

NEW GIGS! GLASTONBURY! NEW DVD! OTHER THINGS!
Erk! So i've been rather slack of late in updating the news page,so some of this is coming a tad late, even managed to miss the Four 4 Wiz gig entirely :-/ I do apologise, although i trust you've all been keeping a close eye on the forum and haven't missed out on anything exciting :-)
Obviously the Big News is the new gigs announced - not least of which will be an appearance at Glastonbury! There will also be a warm up gig on Thursday June 14th at The Carling Academy in London, as well as another at the Stourbridge Rock cafe on Saturday the 16th :-D
We've also got a new dvd to look forward to, a documentary entitled "Ned's Atomic Dustbin... Don't Exist", which largely focuses on the time of Hibernation's release. A release date hasn't been set yet, but you can follow progresshere.
There's also a new compilation due for release on May 7th, titled "Some Furtive Years - A Ned's Anthology". It's currently available for pre-order on Play.com, check here for some info on it.
Lastly, Andy and Martin currently have a new band, called Now Assassin. Check out their Website and Myspace :-)

19 June 2006

HIBERNATION - NOW ON SALE / NEW PODCAST
Just a note to remind everyone that Hibernation is of course, now on sale, and can be purchased from the official site right here (and why not pick up a classic t-shirt while you're there?) The limited edition CD single is selling fast, so make sure you get in there quick if you want one (and why wouldn't you? :-P) Due to some unfortunate technical hiccups, it's not known whether the track managed to make it into the charts (something everyone was hoping for), but hopefully we'll find out soon where the single actually charted (so fingers crossed everyone.)
There's also a new audio podcast to listen to, which can be downloaded for free from itunes (just search for ned's atomic dustbin), and also from this link.

28 April 2006

HIBERNATION FIRST PLAY + PRE-ORDER! / NEW MERCH! / NED'S ON FILM
The new single got it's first public airing on Wednesday night (26th) on Steve Lamacq's 6Music show, head here to have a listen back (single appears around 2 hours into the show). Also mentioned on the show were the fact that the disc provided included two other tracks, one of which is apparently a new version/remix of Kill Your Television (the other track wasn't mentioned, but going by the myspace site it looks to be Ambush). Also, the single is now available for pre-order! :-D Head here to do just that (and check out the cover art), and while you're there, also note that (as hinted at on the 6music show) several classic t-shirt designs have been re-issued and can be purchased from the very same site!
A bit late with putting this one up, but for anyone who doesn't know, photographer Carl Beebee will be filming the Ned's during the forthcoming tour and single release. It will apparently be a mixture of live and documentary footage (a bit like nothing is cool), and the working title is "..Don't Exist". Be sure to keep checking the forum for all the developments.

16 March 2006

NEW SINGLE! NEW TOUR DATES!
Yes it's true! The mighty Ned's will be releasing a brand spanking new single on Monday June 5th, the track is 'Hibernation' - which i'm sure anyone who's been to any of the recent gigs will be familiar with (and will attest to it's excellence). To celebrate, the Ned's will be playing a two night Nedfest at the Birmingham Barfly on Friday May 26th and Saturday May 27th, followed by a launch gig on Sunday June 4th at the Kentish Town Forum in London. Be sure and join the official mailing list (and of course the other kind of forum) if you haven't already to keep up to date with any developments (more about the single, possible further gigs?...)
Also, keep in mind that the re-issue of The Eight Legged Atomic Dustbin Will Eat Itself will finally be released on March 30th (after a couple of delays), so be sure to check that out too. Plus for those in the US, the Shoot The Neds! DVD is now available in region 1, NTSC format for anyone who's been waiting to get their grubby mitts on it. Both are available from Amazon as well as any number of other online retailers.
Lastly, an apology for not having put any of this info up sooner :( i'm afraid it's been a case of Other Stuff getting in the way, and i've been neglecting the site of late. I will try and remedy this as much as possible, and hopefully i can keep it updated more often...

24 October 2005

WARM UP DATE ANNOUNCED!
The Ned's will be playing a small warm up show at the Stourbridge Rock Cafe 2000 on Friday 9th December, tickets are on sale now (priced £16) and can be purchased directly from the official site here, you'll need to hurry though, as the venue only holds 400 people and tickets are selling fast...

4 October 2005

NEW OLD ARTICLES AVAILABLE
Well i know i've been promising these for absoloutely ages, but i've finally managed to get the majority of them done and online :-D
I've still got quite a few reviews etc. to sort out, but i've left it so long already i just decided to fire what i've done so far up for your perusal - i'll try and have the rest done as soon as i can (i'm working 69 hours a week at the moment so i don't have much free time :-/ ).
Anyway click here to check them out, i hope you enjoy them...

THE EIGHT LEGGED ATOMIC DUSTBIN WILL EAT ITSELF
Good news! The classic biography of Ned's, The Wonder Stuff and Pop Will Eat Itself has been fully revised and updated and will be released through Independent Music Press this october. Here's the info from the man himself, Martin Roach -
" I just wanted to let you all know the very exciting news that in October of this year, 2005, ‘The Eight Legged Atomic Dustbin Will Eat Itself’ is being fully re-released on Independent Music Press. This means it will be available in all good book shops and stores like Virgin Megastores. The book is being fully updated to include the entire story of each band – The Wonder Stuff, Pop Will Eat Itself and Ned’s Atomic Dustbin – to date as well as a ‘Where are they now?’ section and lots of other miscellaneous extras, sleeve notes, exclusive new interviews and previously unpublished material. Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff is even writing the new Introduction!
As you expressed an interest in this title previously, you can place an advance order for this re-release which will be mailed to you several weeks ahead of the official general publication and signed by the author. All three bands are active again and the media interest in this scene and those groups is as high as it has been for years.
If you would like to reserve a copy, please send a cheque made payable to ‘I.M.P. Publishing Limited’ for £8.99 + £1.50 P+P to:
Independent Music Press, P.O. Box 69, Church Stretton, Shropshire, SY6 6WZ."
You can also read the press release here

NED'S ON BBC 6 MUSIC
Just a quick note to say Ned's will be featured on the 6 music Dream Ticket show this thursday night (march 31st), no details yet as to what's going to be played though.
(after note: they played a few tracks from the 1992 finsbury park gig.)

13 March 2005

FIRST 2005 DATE ANNOUNCED!
Those of you on the official mailing list (and forum frequenters) will already know that the Ned's have announced their first gig for 2005 - Saturday December 10th at the London Forum, check the (other) forum link at the top for further details. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Monday 14th). Not only that, but there "plenty of plans afoot", apparently (rumours of an outdoor gig featuring some 'old friends' from the stourbridge area, anyone?)
Not forgetting of course, that those who attended the december gigs (i myself had a blast at King Tut's) won't have failed to notice the two new tracks premiered by the band - "Ambush" and "Hibernation" (and Rather Good they were too). Ears are peeled for news about what may become of them, an EP looks most likely at the moment, but we'll just have to Wait And See. All in all, it's looking like a pretty good Year Of Ned :)
(On a site related note, i'm still transcribing all the articles i have - sorry, i can be rather lazy - but i hope to have them done and online asap...)

9 November 2004

JONN + DAN Q&A / TOUR SUPPORT / RADIO APPEARANCES
Jonn and Dan recently met up with Baldie in a local pub to answer some questions submitted by members of the forum, head over here to see what they had to say. The official Ned's site has also had some updates, including some new pieces of news - Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley will be providing support for the band at wolverhampton civic, Jonn will be appearing with Miles Hunt (the wonder stuff) and Clint Mansell (pop will eat itself) reviewing singles on the Round Table show on BBC6 music, Friday november 26th at 6-7pm. The band will also be appearing on Kerrang Radio one s-s-s-saturday night (sorry, couldn't resist ;-) ) this december, although the actual date hasn't been announced yet. Check out the official site for more details.
On a random note, i have a whole bunch of old magazine articles etc. which, fingers crossed, will be up on the site in the near future...

22 October 2004

NEW MATERIAL?! :-O
Those of you on the official mailing list won't have failed to notice this little snippet -
"It would also appear that something has been happening during rehearsals that no one could have predicted but everyone would have hoped for. Tunes have been heard emanating from their rehearsal room that are unfamiliar even to Neds fans in possession of every recording they've ever made!"
What more need be said about it than ?
Apologies for the lack of other news updates, i've been busy with some site modifications as you may have noticed somewhat, the main thing being the addition of a track search function in the discography. You can now search for a track name and it will bring up a list of which releases it was on, along with the song's lyrics (or you can choose to search for the lyrics alone). Also, (I meant to post this a while ago but forgot all about it), there are some recent publicity shots of the band available from here, for those interested

13 July 2004

LONDON SOLD OUT! SECOND DAY ADDED
It seems that tickets for the london gig (16th) have already sold out (well done Ned's!), and a second day has been added, on the 15th.
It's also worth noting that the Session cd is of course, now on sale, so make sure you get your copy (unless of course, you're skint, like me :-/ )

18 April 2004

OFFICIAL SITE / SESSION DELAY
Just a note to say the official ned's site has been moved to nedsatomicdustbin.co.uk (.com still works though) and is now under the management of Jonn. No real content has been added as yet, but it should be soon (i'll post an update here when it does) :)
Also, it appears that the release date for the session cd has been put back again, and it will now be released on April 26th (UPDATE: it has now been put back again to May 10th :( )

14 April 2004

NEW TOUR DATE ADDED!
The Boardwalk, Sheffield, Friday 17th December. Info here :)

13 March 2004

SESSIONS CD
It seems that the 'sessions' cd the band recorded in late 2001 (the new lineup re-recorded several tracks with a view to releasing a cd for prosperity, but it was shelved when the idea for the dvd came along), is going to be released on April 5th (UPDATE: now April 19th). Play.com currently have it available for pre-order (£11.99), and apparently it will have two discs (check the link for tracks), plus a dvd with a 59 minute interview. Sounds good :)
UPDATE: check the secret records site for cover shot etc.

5 March 2004

TOUR UPDATE / JONN INTERVIEW
A third tour date has been added - 16th of December, at The Garage, London (details here) :)
Also, there's a new interview with Jonn available here, a good read, be sure to check it out

20 February 2004

2004 TOUR UPDATE / ANDY NEWS
Just a quick note to say another date for the tour has been added, at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on December 22nd (details here). Hopefully some more will be announced soon :)
Also, Andy King (groundswell/neds) is currently playing with "The Mantle Twins", another band who are signed up with Jonn + Surge. They'll be part of the Surge New Music Tour along with BouncingBomb - check out the Surge Website for dates/other info

3 February 2004

2004 TOUR? :-D
Reliable sources report that there's a good possibility the Ned's will be doing a mini-tour (maybe 5 or so shows) around christmas time this year. Possible dates include Sheffield, Brighton, London and somewhere 'ned likes to play his christmas shows'. Tickets are in fact already on sale for King Tut's in Glasgow on December 18th (Yay!) see here for details. Looks like it'll be a very Merry Christmas then :)
Stourbridge documentary: There's a short documentary all about stourbridge on the BBC 6 Music website, centred around Ned's, The Wonder Stuff and PWEI. Worth checking out, you'll find it here. Seems Miles isn't much of a ned's fan...

OOPS! (update)
I forgot that i hadn't put this up already, but it would appear that 'Bring Out The Freaks' have now split up. However, Dan and Kerry have set up a new band, signed up with Jonn's publishing company Surge Music, called BouncingBomb. Check out the site for tour dates.

22 November 2003

JONN / DVD / SITE UPDATES
Bit of Jonn news first, he's added his vocals to a track written by a fellow Wolverhampton U. graduate called Jono Bacon, and it's available to download from his site, here. The track in question is "David's Song", just scroll down the page a little and you'll spot it.
The dvd is now officially on sale, yay! and is excellent in my opinion, especially the interview. It's available from various places online and otherwise. I've added it to the discography, along with lots of other new scans, with a few more still be put up in the next week or so.

19 September 2003

DVD UPDATE
Some more info on the dvd has been put up on play.com, including the tracklisting. Special features apparently include an exclusive interview, sound check footage, and biography. Check out the page here

20 July 2003

DVD / JONN NEWS
The "Shoot The Ned's" dvd is due for release on October 20th, and is available for pre-order from play.com, at a price of £11.99 (there's also a small cover shot). It claims to be region 2, but it may turn out to be region free, no-one really knows at the mo. UPDATE: Apparently an american version will be released, but not until 4-8 weeks after the uk one. There may also be some other 'stuff' released afterwards.
'In other news' (heh) Jonn has set up a publishing company called Surge Music, you can find their website here (good luck Jonn!)

7 June 2003

NEW NEDS FORUM LAUNCHED!
A new forum for ned's fans is now up and running here, so what are you waiting for? Get over there, sign-up, and let's get the community going :)

18 May 2003:

DVD NEWS
Latest is that the live dvd is scheduled for release in September, and will be widescreen/ full surround sound, no info on any other features yet though

28 April 2003:

SITE UPDATES / NEW COMPILATION
Added some new info/scans to the discography (supplied by Daniel Aeschliman, cheers!)
Castle records are releasing a new 'best of' compilation on the 12th of May. However, it's just another Poorly Conceived Money Grabber, no input from the band. It has a poor choice of tracks, possibly the worst (or funniest, depending on how you look at it) artwork ever, and to top it all, they've titled it "Terminally Groovy". It says a lot about the compilation when they mispell the title track...
The label's site is here, or you can use this link to jump straight to the item

6 March 2003:

SITE ADDITIONS
added a few pics to the tshirt and archive pages, updated the discography a little

BRING OUT THE FREAKS - THE E.P
The 24th of march will see the release of the freaks first ep, check out the site for more info :)

pre - 6 march:
(i forgot to take note of all the dates, tsk)

BALDIE'S NED'S PICS
Baldie has put together a very nice site with various pics of the band taken by fans at gigs etc. Be sure to visit and send in any pics of your own too :)

DVD UPDATE
Latest from Scrawl says the anticpated release date is february/march '03, no news on what features and other cool stuff will be involved, other than it'll likely be in widescreen and surround sound

BRING OUT THE FREAKS!
Dan (of fast drumming man fame) is now playing bass with a currently unsigned band called 'bring out the freaks'. For pics, gigs and other info, head over to their website, located here

2002 REUNION / DVD
Wahay, the first reunion gig of 2002 got underway on June 1st, and it was a corker! The band played JB's Dudley, and in even better news, the gig was recorded for a dvd to be released sometime in the autumn hopefully. Setlist is in the link above, according to Jonn, the dvd "won't be a rip off" so we can expect good things. Also a rumour it might come with some kind of cd, but that's unconfirmed. If you took any pics at the gig, forward them to Baldie, who's putting together a webpage with photos of the band. No progress on talks of an american tour, apparently things aren't really coming together to make it happen. The band are still interested in going, if there's interest in them coming. The latest news from scrawl says thats it's 95% unlikely they'll be able to make it over in 2002

SERIOUS SITE UPDATE!
Well, you probably noticed that i've finally finished the hefty update for the website - and i'm rather pleased with it :) I've given most things an overhaul: restructured the random images into a proper section, did a new biography, added some new articles, added some links, and, most notably, finally got that fecking new version of the Discography finished, which has seen a total overhaul in every way. This page still isn't structured greatly, but i was reluctant to move the news to a seperate page, i prefer having it here. I also had to get a new host - i outgrew the old one - so thanks to John + clarity, who kindly offered up the space. Make sure to pop in to their site and have a look, and tell 'em who sent you ;)
And that's aboot it really. It's still crap, but at least it's not as crap :D

LIVE CD
The live cd of the 2000 reunion gig is available now from gig records. While you're there, why not pick up the Groundswell uk album, Plausible Infeasible, cause it's fantastic too :)
