| Sometimes
it's not possible/practical/convenient to filter all your phone
extensions with a centralised BT ADSL adaptor unit for your BT Master
socket. Traditionally your only alternative has been dangly plug-in
microfilters.
Well, here's
our complete range of professional quality secondary telephone extension
sockets with completely INTEGRATED ADSL filter units.

are necessary at all, read THIS article

Overview
Every telephone socket needs to be filtered
when ADSL is operating on the phone line. There are several approaches
to doing this. If you have an NTE5-type BT Master socket, you can
use one of the official BT ADSL Adaptor Faceplates for it, which
removes the ADSL noise from all your extension wiring in one go,
and provides connection for dedicated ADSL (unfiltered) extensions
to be installed for ADSL access at locations other than at the master.
But sometimes re-jigging wiring might pose a bother, or indeed you
may not actually HAVE an NTE5 style BT socket. So the usual solution
has been to use plug-in microfilters at each and every telephone
point where telephone equipment is plugged in. The bummer with this
is if course that you then have a dangly little box hanging out
of the wall in each location.
Plug-in microfilters have been proven to be incompatible with;
The Dog, The Brats, The Wife, and of course give you no pride in
a neat and complete Job Well Done.
Hence this helpful new line of ADSL installation equipment we now
bring to you.
Is
this a permanant job? Absolutely.
Once these sockets are in place, they can happily remain there for
good. If you ever have ADSL service terminated, you don't need to
RE-fit your old socket fronts. These contain a top-quality performance
microfilter unit, whose sole function is to REMOVE the ADSL noise
from telehone sockets so that all your normal telephone equipment
including phones, dialup modems, SKY boxes and so forth can operate
as normal. If ADSL is ever removed from the line, the filters are
simply redundant and don't do anything. And of course if you (or
a subsequent resident) resubscribes to ADSL services, the sockets
are already prepared and ready. Of course
it's entirely up to you if you take them with you when you leave
- depends how tight you are I suppose...
What
about sockets where I DO want ADSL access?
See the LJ4 version. It provides both a filtered
telephone socket, AND an unfiltered RJ11 socket providing clean,
untampered ADSL signal.
Which one(s)
should I buy?
Oh I get it, you want us to plan your installation for you for free
eh? Heh. Well, here's all you need to know to figure out which ones
to use: In a typical installation, you would fit an LJ2F or LJ3F
(depending on which size line box you want/already have) at all
phone points where you will NOT need ADSL access available, and
an LJ4F at any telephone points where you DO want to be able to
plug your ADSL Modem/Router in. It's that simple. Decide where you
do or don't want the ADSL signal to be available, and figure out
which size you want for the non-ADSL locations and that's about
it.
n
or else fit an LJ2/3/4F extension unit beside the master and NOT
use the master socket itself at all (it could still be used as an
ADSL socket). You absolutely under NO CIRCUMSTANCES can
use any of these secondary products on a BT Master socket unit directly,
they must be used for EXTENSION SOCKETS ONLY.
Just in case anyone (and there's always SOMEone) had the smart idea
of using an LJ3F or LJ4F to REPLACE the BT Master unit, well...
the world of shit you would open up would be astronomically bad,
so push that thought FAR from your mind. Trust The Clarity on this
matter.
Installation
It really is as simple as it sounds. These are to be treated just
like any normal, ordinary telephone wall socket.
The wiring connections are industry standard IDC "Krone"
type punch-down terminals, for which you need an inserter tool.
We sell everything from one-off cheapo ones to the real Krone tool
on this site, so make sure you have one.
You can fit a completely new ADSL filtered linebox from scratch,
or you can replace the faceplate of your existing extensions with
one of these (assuming suitable depth of existing back box/flushmount
box). We have both the standard extension socket sizes (LJ2 compact
size and LJ3/4 standard size) catered for, so choose what you need.
They're even made from of plastic type and colour which exactly
matches original BT line boxes too.
LJ2 size units are supplied with a back box, for surface mounting.
If you're just replacing an existing LJ2 linebox, then just replace
the faceplate - the new ADSL/LJ2F will fit on your currently fitted
surface mount box.
LJ3/LJ4 (85mm) standard size units don't come with a back box -
unless you're flush-fitting the unit, be sure to order yourself
an 18mm or deeper surface-mount back box too.
We think you'll be able to find a screwdriver OK on your own...
